    Such a breath of fresh air!
    It is almost impossible to find someone to repair a mini split A/C here in LA. Lots will install them for you...AND most of those companies are super, super shady. The original install of my Gree Vireo 18k BTU mini split was quoted at $600 by these other fools (not Southland) and then they tried to bill me double that. Then it broke after 2 years because they didn't secure the coolant line properly, and it gradually leaked out 3.5 lbs of it.

    Enter Southland! Such a breath of fresh air. Pun...not intended. I called literally 7 places before landing on them, and they were the only ones who repair mini splits. Better yet, they said they had time to come by TOMORROW. Bryan was professional, did the job in under an hour, and heck he was early. Great job, my man. The service call was $125 and the coolant was $79/lb and $99 for the first. Totally worth it, as I sit here in my air conditioned apartment...meanwhile it's 108 degrees outside. Couldn't be happier.

    First class operation and amazing techs!
    First class operation and amazing techs to quickly and efficiently diagnosed and repaired our AC problem. Our AC stopped working and our house was way too hot. Called and they scheduled an appointment and had someone here the next day. Now I can enjoy my cool house again! Thank you Southland! I highly recommend them and have dealt with other AC companies and none made me feel as comfortable as Southland.

    I can't speak highly enough of Southland Heating and AC!
    I can't speak highly enough of Southland Heating and AC!! Their Customer service is an example for all companies to follow:

    - courtesy phone call the day before my appointment
    - courtesy text with the name and picture of the technician
    - courtesy text that the technician was en route
    -courtesy phone call from the technician, Michael Alamo, that he was 3O mins away
    -Michael arrived on time, was professional, friendly and communicated with me every step of the way.
    - upon completion, an invoice was emailed almost immediately and a courtesy phone call was received

    I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Only bad news is that my 20 yr old unit needs to be replaced, but I expected such.

    During our latest heatwave one of our air conditioning units went down. The company we have a contract with couldn't schedule an appointment to come out for two weeks! Enter Southland who found a way to get a technician out in a day and the problem was fixed within a week. They kept a us informed every step of the way.

    Never going back to my old company. Southland has won me as a customer from here on out.

    The best customer service by far!
    I contacted this company because they are one of the contractors approved to do work for the LADWP optimization program. I contacted a couple companies, but Southland had the best customer service by far. I also live DTLA and they service the area. (Although some other companies put on their maps that they service DTLA, when contacted, they will say that they do not service the area.) Southland was able to come out to my house within 2-3 days (they gave me options) and stuck to the window that was given to me. The technician I had was Mike. He was professional, friendly, and explained everything to me. Other companies in the past did not provide explanations, so I had to keep asking what exactly they were doing to my air conditioner. So for the LADWP program, if eligible, one can get a free Nest installed in the house. Mike walked me through the Nest set up and explained how it worked. Now my air conditioner is blowing out cooler air and I'm able to control the temperature inside my house with my phone! I think Southland is a wonderful company. I will continue to call them for all of my air conditioner needs!

    They didn't give up and stuck with it until they found the solution!
    I have bought my new furnace from Southland last year. The owner spent a lot of time with me on the phone explaining ng and clarifying my questions. After I did my research, he was again patient and thorough. I'm so pleased with my two stage furnace! Very neat efficient kind friendly polite. I had a little humming problem and they came back and repaired it immediately. Now, almost a year later I've had a WiFi problem with my Nest thermostat - which I love! It was a complex problem it turns out, but they didn't give up and stuck with it until they found the solution! Luis did not give up! It's fixed!!! Justine and Luis were great!

    To sum it up, Southland is top-notch!
    We loved the great reviews for Southland Air, so we called, and Matt Alba came out to give us a knowledgeable and detailed assessment for a new HVAC installation. He sketched out a system that took into account several cost-effective solutions to the specific problems of our house's configuration and history. He said he'd have an estimate to us the next day, and he was true to his word.

    We had one other highly recommended company give us an estimate, which was also thorough, and actually a bit less expensive, but we preferred the solutions recommended by Matt.

    The awesome Rudy and his team came and did the installation in one (approximately 10-hour) day, which was amazing, and another reason we chose Southland over the other company, whose estimate was that it would take at least two days.

    After the installation, we had a couple of minor issues with the AC, so twice Rudy came quickly to address and resolve the problems. Ana, the point-person at the office who facilitated communication and payment, is a gem.

    To sum it up, Southland is top-notch.

    In these days of diminishing customer service, it is refreshing to work with Southland.

    Southland installed a new heat pump in my condominium complex of 267 units on DTLA several months ago. I wanted to wait until some really hot days occurred before writing a review. We got more than expected last week with the record 108 F! The system itself was the same brand as had been installed by the builder of the complex approximately 11 years ago, however this system has a more powerful fan and cools down quicker. When my original system broke down I had a difficult time getting 3 estimates, but it was hot at the time and I figured that all A/C companies were overloaded with requests. The first company I called was Circulating Air because they installed the original equipment and I, along with many others in the complex used them for yearly maintenance. Their estimate was sloppily handwritten, included little information and contained no brand names. I was unable to contact the person who came out for the estimate, so I called the company and spoke with the person who had written the estimate. The price was the lowest of the three because it was only for the inside the unit equipment. When I asked what the total would be he said it would be whatever the compressor would cost when installed. That made no sense since the new type refrigerant would not work in the old compressor which was on the roof. In addition, I had no idea of the total cost would be. The attitude of the person I spoke with with was, "take it or leave it". I left it. The second estimate was also poorly written. The Southland offer was written on the actual contract used to install the entire unit, including warranty information, names of the manufacturer, disclaimers etc. I knew everything I needed to know, and although Southland's was significantly higher than the others, I wanted it done right especially with cloak warming hitting us hard this year. Matt Alba was my first contact condominium and was very impressive. He knew the answer to my every question and knew exactly what I needed. The installation was finished in one day, and put down drop cloths everywhere needed. Our condominium association requires Several vendor documents such as insurance and Matt furnished them immediately. They cleaned up so well one would never know they had been here and they stayed until they and I were satisfied everything was in working order and I understood the new thermostat. I spoke with several other members of Southland's staff who were all professional, knowledgeable and promptly got what I needed. L.A. and the state each require inspections and certifications which Southland took care of. In these days of diminishing customer service (at least for major onsite installations) it is refreshing to work with Southland and staff. I'm sure they know professionalism pays off but not all the public does. I've got enough years behind me to know low-ball bids usually the most expensive in the long run. Thak you to the entire staff at Southland.

    The most knowledgeable, and precise, installers.

    I have had three HVAC systems installed in my house over the years. These guys were the most knowledgeable, and precise, installers. The did a difficult attic, a basement, and a ductless installation in one day. Fantastic work ethic and they do the work with pride. They cleaned up all work areas without needing to be asked. I had one small issue with filters, and they were back the next day to fix and address all concerns. I am not in the habit of recommending companies online. I have no hesitation with these guys.

    Take it from a consumer that did their homework and received bids from several others, these folks are honest and back up their work!
    When choosing and picking a company for heating, we did our homework. We had several competitive bids but the most important thing that stuck out was the reviews, this made us feel comfortable as a guide in making our decision.

    When we met Matthew, my wife and I sat down and felt really comfortable with the way he explained things, he even went the extra step to draw things out so that we would have a basic understanding of how an actual heating system works. This was very important to us because we simply did not know what we were getting into and the explanation put us at ease and we decided to go with Southland.

    We had a couple of adjustments post install to do and one of the owners came out to check on things (Dave) and he coordinated a followup with one of his techs. They were more than happy to come back out to make the necessary adjustments. Bryan the tech was polite and professional and he walked me through all of the details and functionality of the new system.

    Bottom line- they back up there work with excellent customer service! I measure a company by the quality of the work that they deliver and there customer service after installation. They delivered!

    Take it from a consumer that did their homework and received bids from several others, these folks are honest and back up their work!
    We recommend this company to anyone looking for this type of service, highly recommended!

    The absolute best.
    Southland did an incredible job replacing our HVAC. We moved into a home with a 30-year-old HVAC unit, and instead of doing a cheap replacement of the existing unit, we decided to follow Matt's advice and put a new more efficient unit in our attic instead of kitchen closet, making more efficient airflow and the added bonus of giving us a new closet! This was the priciest of the bids we received, but for a much better product and excellent service. Southland also has set up a zero interest payment plan with Wells Fargo for their customers that has been extremely convenient, and no other HVAC company we spoke to seemed to do a comparable payment plan. They also take care of any paperwork to get their customers efficiency rebates from the city, even after the job is done.

    The southland team did the entire HVAC replacement (though we did not replace ducts) in a single day with a polite and efficient crew. They even hauled away our old unit and went above and beyond in things like constructing a bigger crawlspace to our attic and putting a floor in the old HVAC closet with no additional cost.

    The bottom line is Southland may be a little pricier but these guys are the absolute best. They really care about the work they do.

The technician Carlos was extremely helpful, patient, and provided detailed explanations/information. He was available at all hours of the day for questions and the follow-up from the customer service team was awesome. I highly recommend this company.

    These guys rock, I recommend them without reservations.
    Could not have had a better experience. We needed a full HVAC system, heating and AC. Matthew helped steer us the best direction for us...originally we thought a mini-split was going to be best, but he showed how we could get better results through a more traditional system.

    Actual install was a couple of days quicker than anyone else had quoted. A small army descended on our house and knocked the job out.

    Unfortunately, the Nest thermostat was having problems working w/ the system. Rudy came out multiple times and brought a couple of units, until finally figuring out a solution. It's worked perfectly since.

    Beyond the install, these guys made claiming the energy-efficient rebate from California a snap. They did the paperwork, arranged inspections, and at the end of the day, counting the $2,900 we got back, the top-of-the-line system was less expensive than entry-level.

    These guys rock, recommend them without reservations.

    As good as it gets!

    Yes, this company is indeed as good as it gets! We had one of the best experiences with any company doing home improvement work here in LA. The crew was supposed to show up between 8:30-9. And they were all early! 7 guys worked in the hot sun for 10 hours, and to a man, they were all professional, friendly and knowledgeable. They worked like a well-oiled machine. Completely impressed. Dave, the owner, worked his tail off making sure my unit was the best for my house ,and his cost beat other quotes. If you are in the need for HVAC work, look no further.

    I've never seen such hard workers.
    I decided to work with Southland to install central A/C in my townhouse on the recommendation of a neighbor who'd just done an install and was thrilled with Matt and the service they received. Mine was a particularly complicated installation because my place isn't designed for A/C. I got estimates from two other big companies, and they couldn't figure out how to install it. One guy said "you might just want to get some really good fans," and the other guy recommended mini-split systems, which were an interesting idea, but no bueno aesthetically, and turned out to be almost as expensive as central air.

    When Matt came, he had a really good plan, and figured out how to solve the problem of not enough air flow to my master bedroom, which was farthest away from the furnace. He's a super nice guy and was really easy to work with.

    The day of the install, he and his crew showed up right on time. They put up lots of plastic and tarps to protect my home, which I really appreciate. And then they worked their butts off all day--it was amazing--I've never seen such hard workers. And at the end of a long day, the foreman, Rudy, who was awesome, wouldn't leave until he was sure I knew exactly how to operate my thermostat. I really appreciated how much they cared that I was happy with my new system.

    And now, I have an awesome new A/C system that I can program remotely on my phone for the days when I'm worried that my dogs are home and the house is getting too hot. Yay!

    It pays to have a reputable company doing that type of work.
    Last month, I decided to replace over a four decades old inefficient gas furnace with a new one. Having lived in a home built in 1964, I have learned to expect compatibility issues when replacing old major equipment. Therefore, I researched and chose Southland Heating and Air-conditioning Co. for ducts and furnace replacement.

    Based on discussions with John Mattson (from Southland), I selected a Ruud two-stage furnace. However, this led to a significant incompatibility issue - installing a two-stage furnace in a home wired for a one stage furnace (i.e. had only two-wires from furnace to thermostat).

    I realized a couple of days after installation that furnace was always operating in Stage II. Therefore, I called John and explained the issue. That was it. John took care of the problem and had the issue resolved to my full satisfaction. Justin came today and completed the work. Joanna and Maxi tracked this issue closely and made sure that the work was completed to my satisfaction. Thanks guys, it was a pleasure dealing with all of you.

    Unexpected compatibility issues may come up when installing major new equipment in old houses. Therefore, it pays to have a reputable company doing that type of work. I am happy that I chose Southland and would strongly recommend them for HVAC work.

    In one word, they are just AWESOME!
    In one word, they are just AWESOME! And that is all of them, from the people behind the desk (Ana, Maxie, Lisa) to the technicians (Fabian, Yair) who installed a new furnace for me. They are dedicated hard workers and left things looking better than it was before and left everything very clean too! Bryan who recommended that I change the furnace is also fantastic. He took time to explain everything and answered all my questions in a friendly manner. I will certainly use Southland Heating and Air Conditioning when I will need their services again and I recommend them very highly. They certainly know how to take care of their customers and they all treated me as if I was royalty! I feel they deserve more than 5 stars.

    Southland treated me with the utmost respect and care.

    If you asked me for one takeaway from my experience with Southland, I would say that they do things the right way. I had issues with my HVAC system last summer and basically lived without AC for months. It was hot and I was miserable. I had contacted the HVAC company that installed it 2 years prior and after some back and forth they fixed it. A few days later it broke again (aka that didn't actually fix it). After a couple times of that experience, I decided to contact Southland. They came, it worked for a few days and then broke again. I was getting frustrated. New company, same experience. I figured I had a serious issue. Southland sent out a senior Tech (Justin, who was amazing) and he was able to determine that a circuit board had shorted out leading to intermittent availability of the HVAC system. Problem finally solved. He suggested that I go back to the original company as the part/labor may still be under warranty (he was a real mensch). After some more back and forth with the original company, it wasn't under warranty and I had Southland replace the board. I've had heat ever since. The whole ordeal took months to figure out but Southland treated me with the utmost respect and care. I will be using them for any needs going forward and would highly recommend them.

    They made things much easier for us!
    I would like to share in particular our experience in installing air conditioning with Southland Heating and Air Conditioning.
    The staff, Bryan, the first-time on-site service technician, made me feel different. He was serious about the old air-conditioner's situation and
    patiently analyzed the pros and cons of repairs and changes.
    So we changed our plan to get changed new one instead. The office representatives Ana, who is very helpful with all the documents necessary for the installation, that made things much easier for us.

    After the installation, Ana also conducted a follow-up survey. When she learned that we had some small issues, Southland specially sent manager Jose to come over and the manager's professional leadership style helped us solve problems thoroughly. Their professionalism of being responsible to the customer, which is telling us the difference between choosing a big and good company is. They put the interests of the customer first not only is their slogan but in the actions.

    Despite the heatwave, they promised to work us in!
    I found Southland Heating on Angie's list and in spite of the heat wave and everybody being booked, they promised to work us in. The service was amazing..and the technician was clean, knowledgeable and respectful in making sure he left the work area as clean or cleaner than he found it. He also saved us money by letting us know what we didn't need as well as what we did. We liked the service so well, we signed a yearly maintenance agreement. It'll be so nice not to have to worry about our heating and air conditioning again. If we have a problem, we know who to call...and if not, twice a year they return to take care of everything.

    Southland Heating & Air Conditioning was very professional in all they did!
    Southland was very professional in all they did - very clear explanations regarding their heating and A/C offerings with recommendations that took into account your needs and price point. They helped with financing options, and their office handled most of the work related to applicable rebates, testing and inspections/permits. We had both a new furnace and A/C unit installed - clean job and respectful crew doing the work.
    The systems are working well and Southland has had a good follow-up to make sure we're satisfied with the operation and equipment. We have already recommended them to a friend.

    My heating and air unit is two years old, and I wanted it serviced before the summer heat arrives. They had a promotional service special which I took advantage of. The service tech was on time, courteous, professional, and friendly. He made me aware of their VIP service agreement which I decided to sign up for. It will give me two seasonal service visits both for air conditioning and heating and any unscheduled service visits should it becomes necessary. I would recommend Southland Heating and Air Conditioning to anyone who wants to keep their heating and air conditioning equipment running well. They are local, professional, courteous, and their prices are competitive.

    The Southland team is knowledgeable, honest and professional.

    The professionalism of the Southland team is amazing. Principle Ray Alba’s in-depth knowledge and experience is amazing. I had a complete HVAC system with new ductwork installed in May 2018. I decided recently to add an Air Scrubber which was installed today (wish I had installed it last May but better late than never).

    They sent out a team of four guys (including a supervisor) for the original installation which was completed in one day. They put up plastic sheeting and covered all my furnishings prior to the installation. They then cleaned up everything after the installation. I’m very pleased with my new HVAC system.

    While Southland’s bid was toward the upper mid-range it was comprehensive and ultimately less expensive than cheaper bids. The other HVAC bidders pretty much stipulated everything I wanted would be a costly add-on that increased those lower bids well above Southland’s. The Southland team is knowledgeable, honest and professional. I would highly recommend them and already have had two neighbors use them.
